I FINALLY watched One-Punch Man! And let's just say I will be buying a lot of One-Punch Man related goods whilst in Japan because holy crap this series was fantastic!
First of all, I had seen a lot of pictures, clips and merchandise on my facebook newsfeed when One-Punch Man was airing and it seemed really popular. The series sort of just came out of nowhere but I learnt that it had quite a cult-like following particularly for the manga. The interesing thing about the manga is that the mangaka remains anonymous and uses the pseudonym 'ONE'.
So what genre does One-Punch Man come under? I would say mainly action/comedy. It was definentaly hilarious, I laughed heaps all 12 episodes. I have yet to watch the special episode and ova. If you like your shounen anime with a lot of comedy splashed on top you will love this series, it's got a alot of parody and smart jokes which I really liked.
And if that wasn't enough to get you hooked on this epic series, check out the opening song because I didn't skip the opening a single time (I usually always skip the opening once I've seen it 1 -2 times) - I never skipped this one because it's so damn epic and catchy!
The main character is called Saitama and in his words he is a 'hero for fun'. 3 years ago when Saitama was an unemployed 22 year old he saved this kid from a crab monster. This series really doesn't take itself seriously I mean look at the kid he saved - they refered to him as 'a kid with a big-ass chin' - let's be real this kids chin is supposed to look exactly what you are thinking it looks like.

Right from that flashback scene in the first episode I knew this series would be hilarious and I was right. Back then Saitama had a head full of hair - he looked like a typical Japanese salaryman.

So the reason why Saitama is bald now is because after this 'incident' he began to train everyday by doing 200 push ups,100 sit-ups, 100 squats and running 10K every day which caused him to go bald because he trained so hard. Now, this fitness routine doesn't actually seem too extreme infact it is a standard high intensity workout but I do think that doing that every single day for 3 years is a bit much.

But yeah so that resulted to Saitama being so incredibly strong that he can beat any opponent with just one punch hence the name one-punch man.
The thing that makes Saitama so hilarious is how 'real' he is I mean he really doesn't care about anything, he just lives everyday like an average guy. That's the thing he is SO AVERAGE. Goes grocery shopping and always keen on sale items like an average guy, lives in a tiny one bedroom apartment like an average guy and faces small problems like not being able to kill a damn mosquito despite having a ridiculous ammount of phsycial strength.

If you are keen to watch One-Punch Man this is where to watch it (I watch all my Anime on KissAnime)

I highly recommend this series if you want a fast, funny and action packed series to watch. If you are new to Anime I would also recommend this as a starter Anime or gateway Anime since it's got all the elements you want in a jump-start Anime. The pace is steady with a good ammount of speed - the characters Saitama meets throughout the series will make you lose your shit because they are just so hilarious and awesome. I will try do more 'review' type blog posts from now on. Can't wait for season 2!
