SPOILER FREE!

Hello! Tonight my mum and I watched 'Let's Get Married' which is a Chinese romance/comedy film that came out last year (2015). I was the one who acually wanted to watch this as recently my whole family has been totally obsessed with 'Hurry Up Brother' aka the Chinese version of Korea's popular variety show 'Running Man'.

I wanted to see the people on Running Man work as in I wanted to see the films they are in and stuff because on the show we get to know them really well personally but I wanted to see their work too! It has been a long time since I watched a Chinese film, I actualy can't remember the last Chinese film I watched which is kind of sad. Zheng Kai and Li Chen are on Running Man and they are both in this film and they are two of my favourites from the show!

Well I thoroughly enjoyed this film! It started really nicely and it got me laughing within the first 7 minutes which set things into motion for me. I was quite imressped with the cinematography actually, it was full of nice city scapes and transitions. Really showed off Beijing and Italy well (the two main setings in the film). Zeng Kai is so hot by the way and he plays a pilot in this film. A PILOT. In uniform - yes.

This film sort of reminded me of 'Love Actually' - there are 8 main characters, 4 couples that are all connected but are not directly shown to be that way until later in the film which worked soooo well. It was subtle but seriously effective for the films narrative. The production value for this film was more significant than I thought, I really was impressed.

Something that did bother me that my mum had to explain to me (culture clashing) - women presurring their partners to propse / marry them. I seriously don't get that. According to my mum this is really common in China especially for Chinese women. They will pressure and almost force their boyfriends to propose for future security, having a baby and supporting her parents etc. I have pretty strong views on marriage as in I really don't desire it and I don't see the appeal in it especially the westernised world of marriages, proposals, wedding ceremonies etc which is the norm now in China.

I just don't undertsand why some people feel the need to make things 'official' through signing a peice of paper and exchanging expensive stones on a ring. I might make a post about how I feel about marraige, I haven't really found anyone who shares my views on it so I don't like to bring it up. Plus I'm still too young to be thinking about that kind of stuff anyway.

Right back to the film! it was full of laughs and some more heavier real-life stuff too whch was great as it balanced out the tones of the film and kept it rooted in reality to a certain extent.

If you want a fun easy to watch romance-comedy then this won't dissapoint!
